Title: A Woman Gone Mad

Author: Kimber S Dawn

Release Date:  January 2, 2013

“I inhaled it! Yes I read it through the new year celebration I just couldn’t put it down!!! This book spoke to me, not only is it real and raw, it is what every and I do mean every woman goes through at some point. We all go a little mad sometimes but we are sane and loved it is BEAUTIFUL. Yeah ladies we all have a Nick and a Leo in our lives, the point is which one do we deserve? This is in my opinion sort of every woman’s anthology! Go on ladies inhale it, you know you want to!” 10 Stars ~ The Book Fairy
“Loved this story. It was so real and raw it was unlike anything I’ve read recently.” ~ Rose’s Book Blog
“Be prepared for swooning, bitching, laughing and ugly crying. My sweet baby mother on all that is holy Kimber SLAYED me!” 5 Stars ~ Sweet and Spicy Books
“Kimber S. Dawn has written a book that will make you want to scream, throw your kindle and be like WTF!? And I mean that in the best way possible. This intriguing journey of Lillian Shaw’s self discovery is an amazing read. I am so glad I took a chance on this book and this author.” 5 Stars ~ Erin, Give Me Books
Forget everything you know about fairytales. There comes a point in a woman’s life when she realizes not everyone gets a happy ending. And no one knows this better than Lillian Shaw. The safety of a small southern upbringing and a happy normal family couldn’t keep life from chipping away at her.And nothing leaves its mark like the bite of a broken heart.

Blow after blow, Lillian tries to stay optimistic, but when faced with a choice that could destroy her future, she gives in to the temptation.

When your first true love comes crashing into your happily ever after, you’re supposed to walk away. Not fall back in love.

But saying no to Leo was something Lillian could never do…

Once lines are crossed is there any going back?

Or is the risk that Lillian Shaw takes going to leave her broken again…

And this time be enough to make her A Woman Gone Mad?

***Warning: This is not a shy and tender fairytale love story. It’s a raw, tragic, and gritty story inspired by true events. This book is not for the faint of heart, it contains graphic language, sex, violence, and drug use. MATURE Audiences Only. Not intended for young adult readers.***

My Thoughts: I do not even know how to start telling you how much I loved this book.  I was hooked from the start and just couldn’t stop. The whole time you feel for Lillian or Lil as most people call her in this book; for so many reasons and there is nothing you can do to help her. She is so broken and  only wants to be in love and wants everything to be great and it just doesn’t seem to work out for her. After the first time she falls into love only to be crushed she is really never the same. Lil will tell you that she can not pin point when everything started going wrong or how it happened onlty that it did.  Kimber does such an amazing job of pulling you in and making you feel everything that Lillian is feeling. It is hard to do that. I think that we all have a little bit of Lillian in us, where we feel like we have to give up everything to make it right. Even the one thing we want the most.  I have to tell you that this is one of those books that is going to stick with you forever and always. I know that I will read it again and again and again because Kimber just did that great of a job. You get very mad at certain people in this book and your heart hurts for people all at the same time!! Go get this book you will not regret it I promise you that!!!
Alyshas Thoughts: Wow!!! That is the first thing that pops into my mind after reading A Woman Gone Mad by Kimber Dawn. Kimber has pushed many limits and emotions with her book. Let me tell you, it was totally worth it!!! Lillian, also know as Lil, is a deeply broken woman. She can’t tell you where she started falling apart exactly, but she knew she no longer had hope for her life. Everything started really going down hill with her first “lust”, but she really lost herself when she lost the love of her life Leo. Lil knew she would never be the same without him, her voices in her head fought with agreeing and disagreeing with her. Lil decided to move on though, when she found Nick, Lil knew she could grow to love him as much as he did her. And she did, finally a happy ever after for Lillian. That was wrong though after Lillian had her daughter Bella she lost her best friend, her brother, Alan. Things started taking a turn for the worst. But just before she hit rock bottom Leo appeared back in her life. Lil thought for sure things were going to turn around for her. Little did she know life with Leo would push her to the bottom, and try to bring he back up again. That is if she lives through her rock bottom. Drugs, alcohol, pills, heartbreak, and loss pull Lillian’s voices to push her over the edge. She knows how she can finally find true happiness, to end it all. Lil prepares for the one thing that can end her suffering Leo fights to make it all better. Leo believes he messed up and he will do everything in his power to fight for Lil. Kimber Dawn shows a strong woman suffering from depression fight her way to build a life. We all know this doesn’t always end happily, but she tries. I got very emotional while reading this book, what Lillian goes through is tough and there are so many emotions. She is just a woman trying to find her Prince Charming and get her happy ever after. Something all little girls want when they grow up, but Lillian’s story shows you it’s not always so simple. Sometimes life isn’t like Cinderella. I hope you all enjoy A Woman Gone Mad as much as I did.

Hey, I’m Kimber, and I really freaking hope you enjoyed AWGM! Visit my website www.authorkimbersdawn.com or Throw me a review up on my FB page, www.facebook.com/AWGMbyKimberDawn or Goodreads if you loved it! I am a whore for reviews. Ahh… let’s see, what can I tell you about my self… Well, first of all I’m a straight up whore for many, many things. I’m a wine whore, some would say I’m a functional alcoholic, and I’m totally cool with that title. Now the day my cheese completely falls off my cracker and I lose the functional in that title, well yeah never mind. Even then I’ll deny that shit. I’m a whore for Victoria’s Secret, no seriously, like my VS Angel’s Credit Card stays maxed out, hey, they got cool shit. I have a whole lot of hats, meaning I can be called a billon different things, daughter, wife, mother, labor unit nurse, I sell pussy on the side *coughs* that would be persian kittens, thank you you dirty minded scoundrel, I’m also compulsive blackjack addict, book blogger, book pimp, book whore, Jack Daniels is my favorite boyfriend and my biggest dream, the day I’ll acknowledge that I’ve succeeded in life and can a die a happy woman is the day I get to go two stark naked hour round sexual bouts with Jason Statham. *Sighs* I started writing poems and short stories very early in my life, you know for the Michael’s and Leo’s and Nick’s in my life. I’ve been a book hoarder since I was eleven years old, but then a couple years ago something wonderful happened! The 50 shades of Grey craze brought to life my inner smut whore where I commenced to read anything and everything smut affiliated. When reading wasn’t enough any anymore and I noticed that so many of the authors of my favorite books weren’t getting the exposure their work deserved I turned it into a mission, starting my own blog, buying their books and reading them one by one, I then wrote my reviews for my blog and didn’t hold back in writing them. I’ve never done a single thing in my life half way, I always go all in. After the success of my Blog, and the insistence of one of my bestest friends, my sister from another mister, Trina Taylor of Bad & DirtyBooks I was ready to finally take the plunge and write the story that’s been restlessly clawing to get out of my head and onto paper for a VERY long time. I’m a southern girl to my core, a self proclaimed smut whore, andI guess now we can add aspiring author to my hat collection as well.

Prologue:

September

Vito’s Senior Year at Palmetto High School, New Jersey

I jump people in alleys for fun. I say shit I don’t mean.Yeah, I’m an asshole…always been one, always will be.

The way I grew up, nice got you fuckin’ nothin’ but stepped on. The mob life is brutal; a hazy, volatile run of survival. I don’t like it, but I’m proud of my heritage and my friends.

One thing I admire is the loyalty in the Mafia. I come from a long line of mobsters. The Rossi’s have been here in New Jersey since the thirties, tommy guns, and zoot suits.

My Pop has been gone on business for the Palmetto Mob Boss for over a year now. His loyalty is unwavering. Mom and I see him on holidays, and he calls a lot. It’s not the same as having him here.

But Pop being away isn’t what’s wrong with me.

Erin, this kid – I can’t get her out of my head. Well, I guess she’s not a kid. No… no… she’s a kid. She’s fourteen… I’m seventeen.

Holy shit! I could go to jail. Well, it wouldn’t be the first time – and she’d be worth it. I wouldn’t have even found out she was that young if I hadn’t overheard her sister, Megan, telling my best friend, Antonio.

Ugh, shit!

It’s not so bad if she’s turning fifteen like – tomorrow.

I’m trying, I really am. I just have to keep repeating to myself, she’s a freshman, you’re a senior. She has three more years of high school left; I’m going to college next year. Well, I will if I get my head out of my ass.

Every time I see her, she seems to be having the time of her life. She thrives on laughter and fun. Her happiness is contagious. That’s probably why everyone likes her. Erin is way more outgoing than Megan.

She’s smart like her sister. I bet she’ll get an early acceptance to the college of her choice, too.

What would she want with a stupid ass like me?

That damn red hair! And that slim little body. I know that this has to have something to do with Antonio going out with Red…I mean Megan. Yeah, that’s definitely what it is. The hair. The O’Neill girls are different… Irish, not Italian. Forbidden.

Antonio’s father, the Mob Boss of Palmetto, New Jersey, warned all of us years ago to stay away from Megan. But Antonio Rinaldo Delisi, Sr. never mentioned Megan’s little sister, Erin. He probably figured she was too young to be of interest to us.

I heard some chooches talking about her after school the other day while I was walking down the hallway near the science wing. Typical guy shit. But I wanted to slam their faces into the lockers. I had it all planned out in my head. I was going to take each of them by the scruff of the neck, one by one, and SMASH. I’m familiar with the sound of flesh hitting metal. Then I would’ve taken them into the fuckin’ bathroom and washed their mouths out with anti-bacterial soap. But I held back…

And that shows that I’ve been paying way too much attention to someone that doesn’t even know I’m alive. I’m a chooch when it comes to getting attention. I just act like the asshole I am.

Like the time I hit on her sister in church. And did I mention that Erin didn’t even look my way? That was just me being stupid. I do stupid shit all the time because I don’t think, I just do. It’s an important motto in the Mafia. Thinking can be very bad for your health. No one wants cement shoes and lungs full of water.

She’s got a boyfriend. I’ve seen him. He’s a scrawny little guy. His mother picked Erin up from school one day: I saw the mini-van pull up. The door slid open and she hopped in. Her face said it all; she was happy and excited to see her pansy little boyfriend.

The guy is in the same grade as her, but he goes to another school. Lucky for him…he doesn’t have to see her every day. That is, if that pansy kid could really be as attracted to her as I am. And it’s good because if he were around, I’d consider beating him up every once in a while just for shits and giggles.

Like a chooch, I’m on high alert, constantly looking for her in the hallways. I know every class she’s in. I’ve actually cut a few classes to wait outside her classroom like a stalker.

This cannot be normal. I know its not. Maybe I need a shrink. Some intense therapy might beat it out of me.

That’s it! A good beating!

One Ride By Chelsea Camaron

Title: One Ride (The Hellions Ride)
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Genre: Erotica
Publication Date: December 19, 2013
SYNOPSIS:

Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion. She never imagined a Hellion would come along and prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President. Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.

Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle. When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe. The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.

His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision. He sends her away to a charter club, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.

One ride across the country. One simple ride. Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe. She’s off limits, his head knows this, but his body can’t deny the sparks between them. She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless. Constantly in close confines together, can they deny the chemistry? Will they give into the attraction between them? Can one ride turn lust into love?

Alyshas Thoughts: One Ride A Hellions Novel by Chelsea Cameron is seriously one bad ass book! The Hellions are a very well known and respected biker club. They have many allies around the country, but one enemy take things too far. A Hellion princess, Doll, is being targeted by a former allies’ son to get her father, Roundman to do his dirty work. Roundman decides he needs to end this guys life to protect his daughter. So he sends two good guys from  another club, Tripp and Rex, to take Doll and her friend Sass on one ride. This the ride for their lives, stress and emotions are high. Doll knows she’s attracted to Tripp but starts to wonder if it’s only one sided. One night of passion Doll knows she wants more for her life. Little Hellions running around, being a Hellion ol’ lady, and a biker to ride behind. Tripp is feeling things he has never felt before for Doll, but when he realizes what she wants for her future he knows he will never to able to give it to her. He knows Doll deserves more, and plus Roundman would never allow it. The one ride has so much energy, emotions, and adventure wrapped into it. You get engulfed in this fantastic bad ass story. Doll is a strong independent woman who speaks her mind no matter what. She’s not afraid to fight for what she wants, but the softer side of her may not be able to survive heartbreak. Tripp is the serious biker, always making sure things go smoothly, but not afraid to kill to protect his Hellion family. He is not the one to relax and have fun. When he has sexual desires to takes care of them, not matter with who, where, nor who is watching. Doll changes Tripp though, she brings out the side that is capable of emotion. It scares him because he knows he can’t commit to the happy ever after. Make sure you read One Ride, I promise Tripp and Doll’s story does not disappoint!

AYLSHAS THOUGHTS
WHO WROTE THIS?

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.

Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.

Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works.

When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in.

She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.

*Warning mature content ahead- this scene is explicit so only post if your blog is set for adult content please*

A few beers later, Tank and I are playing pool in the back corner room. Three women come over to our game. For a bit they watch and giggle to each other. One is a bottle blonde, short only five foot, one or two. She’s wearing a black mini skirt that barely covers her ass, a navy blue halter top that her boobs are screaming to be let loose from, topped off with those fuck me heels that women love to wear and men love to feel digging into their backsides. The other two have dark hair, one is taller, maybe five eight or nine, the shorter one closer to the blonde’s height. The taller broad, is in a little black strapless number that she clearly doesn’t realize one ass cheek is already hanging out of. The shorter one, obviously more reserved than the other two, is in jeans and a fitted shirt. She walks away, returning to wherever they came from.

The blonde approaches me, with a smile that says seduction. She licks her lips as she trails her finger over my cut. Stopping, she breathes into my ear.

“I have a pocket you can sink into, biker.” She whispers.

“Is that so?” I reply, looking over at Tank. Her taller friend has now approached him and is mauling his face in what I believe to be extremely drunk kisses. I watch as Tank wraps his hand in her hair. Tightly, he pulls back on her, to slow her pace. He’s taking control, and soon going to take what he wants. Returning my attention back to the bar fly beside me, I move so she’s pinned between me and the pool table.

Taking the hint, she pulls me up against her. I lean down, she thinks I’m going to kiss her, but instead I whisper, as I breathe heavily on her neck.

“Darlin’, are you sure? Be ready, I’m going to fuck you hard, fast, and rough. Right here, in front of your friend, my brother, and whoever decides to walk in. Once I start, I’m not going to stop. Say no now, and walk the fuck away. Otherwise, take your panties off and stick them in my pocket. Then turn around and bend your ass over the pool table bitch.”

Without hesitating, her panties are now in my pocket. Pulling her skirt over her waist, her bare ass is now shaking in front of me. Getting a condom out, I unbutton my jeans and stroke my dick. As I’m getting hard, I look over to see Tank is already working his girl over. Her legs are wrapped around his waist, arms around his neck, and her head back as she’s moaning in ecstasy. Damn, they were quick to get to it.

Reaching around her front with my right hand, I slide up her thigh. At her juncture, I slowly tease her pussy lips with my fingers. Spreading them apart, I circle her clit as she rocks back on to me, seeking more. I increase the pressure and the pace on her clit. My dick is hard and pressing against her ass. She looks over her shoulder, down at my dick. Seeing the silver jewelry at the tip, she smiles.

“Fuck me, biker. Take that big, pierced cock and fuck my ass.”

If that’s what the hell the slut wants, who the hell am I to say no? The bitch wants it rough, fine. She’ll feel this shit for days. I push her head down onto the pool table. Removing my hand from her clit, I roll the condom on. I kick her legs further apart. Taking a few moments to finger her pussy, I use her own juices to start inserting my finger in her ass. Once she adjusts to the first finger, I add a second. With my other hand, I’m rubbing the head of my penis against her clit, letting the piercing apply that added sensation. She’s now rocking back rhythmically on three fingers. I remove my fingers and slowly insert the tip of my cock. I give her body a moment to adjust to my girth, as I inch in further. She’s tiny and there is no way I’ll be balls deep without hurting her. Her ass is tight and the lube from the condom isn’t enough. Once I’m inside her a good bit, I reach around with my left hand and massage her breast at the same time I begin rubbing circles on her clit. I tease the entrance to her pussy with my fingers. As I do, she rocks back engulfing my dick in her ass. It’s warm, soft, and so tight. I insert two fingers inside her pussy as I pinch her nipple. She rocks against me as I begin pumping both my dick and my fingers in and out of her. She’s clinching around me as her orgasm is building.

“Oh, oh, oh…yes…I’m coming.” She screams out so loud Tank and his play thing stop fucking to turn and watch us.

As she’s going through the aftershocks of her orgasm, she starts to raise her head up. I push it back down, as remove my hand from her pussy and my dick from her ass.

“I’m not finished yet. Bitch, stay put.” I say as I hold her down onto the pool table.

Fast and hard, I thrust my dick in her pussy now. I set a quick, intense pace, ready to get off and move on. Within a few hard thrusts, I allow my mind a moment of wondering, imagining the face of a doll, I come in the condom. Finishing, I pull out. Removing the condom, I tie off the top, and toss it in the trash can in the room. Adjusting myself, I zip up my pants. Looking over, I see Tank is finished as well. His girl already sporting a pouty face as mine is still bent over the pool table like she doesn’t know what just happened.

Deciding I am done for the night, I grab my beer, nod to Tank that it’s time to go. He follows me out of the room, leaving the two bar flies behind. They both call out to us. Rather than turn around and acknowledge them, I flip my middle finger over my head at them as we make our way by the bar towards the exit door.

Tripp

Kissing Doll was a mistake. Shaking off the thoughts of her body molding to mine, I focus. Knowing the fuckers are following us, I’ve got to keep my shit straight. The downfall to being followed while you’re on a bike, it’s hard to watch the bastards following you without making it obvious. Bike mirrors are small and full of blind spots anything more than a car length away. It’s a game of where the hell’s Waldo. I never have liked games.

Peek-a- mother- fuckin’- boo. I see you Cadillac SVT. Same bastards from before, they have no idea who they’re fucking with. Extending my left arm out straight, palm flat to the ground, I make a slight up and down motion to let Rex know to slow down and back off a little. Turning my hand, I single three fingers then four. Throwing my arm up, bending at the elbow to a ninety degree angle while balling my fist, then with my index finger only extending I make a circle motion. Rex knows in three quarters of a mile, I’ll make a hard right exit, no signal. He’s to keep going, let the caddy follow me, while he gets Sass to send the text to the boys to circle around, and back my ass up.

Pulling off, sure enough, the car follows. Hopefully, they took the bait thinking we were riding the two of us and only sent one car to tail. My boys have been following a half hour or so behind us the entire ride making sure to stay out of sight. If there are too many of them, we’re fucked. I’ll do anything before they get Doll though.

We’re on a two lane road that makes a loop. I feel the vibration of my phone cueing me that Rex and crew are heading to the gas station. Officially in BFE (Bum Fuck, Egypt) I pull into the seedy gas station. As soon as Doll realizes Rex doesn’t follow the turn off, she holds on tighter. I drop my left hand to squeeze her thigh reassuringly. Hang tight until the cavalry arrives. None of these fuckers are gonna get to her to use as a pawn in some sick game. Not one hair on that pretty little head will be touched as long as I’m fucking breathing.

Pulling in, Doll climbs off. Before I climb off, I grab her hand and swing her to me, snaking my hand around the back of her neck, I pull her in for a kiss. Raw, rough, and real passion flow freely between us as the kiss becomes a tangle of tongues, lips, and teeth. When I pull away, her eyes are glassed over in desire.

“Stay close, and follow my lead, Doll.” I whisper to her before kissing her forehead and releasing her.

Climbing off the bike, I remove my helmet. Storing both our helmets on the bike, I make a point not to touch any of the saddlebags. Knowing we’re being watched, I need to make this believable. They may or may not know the real purposes behind this trip. If Delatorre hasn’t been taken down yet, they will want Doll to keep him breathing. If Delatorre has been handled, this could be retaliation. Either way Doll is their target. Time to keep up appearances I smile at Doll to ease her fears.

Walking up behind Doll, I wrap my arms loosely around her waist. Turning her, I keep my body between her and the car. Dropping my head, I lightly bite at the sweet spot where her neck and shoulder meet. She softens beneath me. Running my nose up her neck as I inhale her scent, reaching her ear, I whisper to her.

“Stay close, do exactly as I say, we’ve been followed.” She nods her head in agreement. “At the bathroom door, I’m going to kiss you. When I do, my body will be blocking their vision. You need to reach in the waist band of my jeans and grab the pistol and tuck it into your jeans. Then you go in the bathroom and lock yourself inside a stall. You don’t come out until Sass arrives to get you. If anyone comes inside that isn’t me, Rex, or Sass, you shoot them. Hellions cut or not, shoot first ask questions later. My boys are coming for backup but they won’t come in here to get you, only me, Sass, or Rex. Got it?” I say, needing her to understand that these men could kill us and get a Hellions cut so she can only answer for people she can recognize.

Once again she nods. I feel her shudder beneath me. I begin pushing us forward, walking behind her, still wrapped around her. The embrace is close like lovers. Under other circumstances it would be intimate, but in this moment, it’s about her safety.

At the bathroom door, I lean down and kiss her wrapping my hands around her head. Adrenaline mixes with an unknown emotion as I sweep my tongue inside her mouth. I don’t want to ever stop kissing her, but right now I’ve got to get rid of our problem. I feel the gun being pulled away as she tucks it against her own waist. When she starts to pull away, I pull her head back to me. I kiss her with everything I have in me. If I die right now, I die a happy mother fucker to have shared my last kiss with this woman. Finally, I pull away.

“Be safe, Doll. Remember, no one, but me, Sass, or Rex.” I kiss her forehead as I release her. Pausing for a moment as I watch her disappear in the restroom, I can hear her lock the bathroom door.

Turning around, I’m greeted by none other than the same fucker from the truck stop.

“Don Juan Mother Fuckin’ Pablo. What can I do for you Chico?”

Doll

“Tripp, you son of a bitch, I’m not done talkin’ to you.” He stops on the spot, but doesn’t turn around. Rex and Sass are standing still by their bike watching everything as it continues to unfold. He’s making no attempt to acknowledge me. Frustration running high, I march up behind him. I poke him in the shoulder, in an attempt to get him to turn around. When that fails, I jab my finger into the top of his shoulder. Still, nothing. Walking around to face him, I’m met with a mixture of laughter and lust in his eyes. He’s enjoying this, the fucker.

“You just fucking kissed me. I don’t even know your real damn name and you kissed me! You’ve insulted me, belittled me, taken me from my home to God knows where, and I don’t even know your fucking name!” I say jabbing my finger in his chest. Our eyes are now locked, battling each other in the stare downs of stare downs. My eyes are full of fury and his full of fun, maybe. Is this turning him on?

“If you’re running your mouth so I kiss you again, it ain’t gonna happen Doll. You’re wound up. You need to release the tension. How ‘bout we see if Jared can give you some ink?”

“You have lost your ever lovin’ fuckin’ mind if you think I’m going to let some friend of yours permanently mark my body. Again, I don’t even know your name. Yet, I’m supposed to trust some guy you know to tattoo me? Really? I may end up with Tripp tattooed on my ass.”

He laughs at me. Not the little ‘ha ha you’re so funny’ kind of laugh. No, Tripp folds over holding his stomach because he’s laughing so hard at me.

“What the fuck is so damn funny?”

Tripp stands up. The smile now gone from his face, replaced with his ever present serious glare, he looks directly at me.

“Get your ass inside. Shut the fuck up for two seconds so you can meet Jared.”

He walks off, heading for the front door. Sass is now beside me, as I stand here with a stupid look on my face.

“Come on, Doll. Let’s make the best of it. I’m game for new ink. You should get that tat you’ve been wanting with another damn bird. We’re stuck here until the guys have rested. Jared may be hot or have hot friends. You’re way too bitchy, loosen up some.”

“Sass, Delatorre had cameras in our house. How can I relax?”

“Fuck! He had what? Come on, let’s get inside and figure this shit out.” She says, taking me by the hand to the front door.

Walking inside we are surrounded by the designs on the red painted walls. Each intricate piece of work brings something new to life for someone. Hearing the buzzing of the tattoo gun in the back room, I’m immediately itching for a new tattoo. I have a sparrow on my right hip in memory of my mother and a robin on my wrist to represent the bond Sass and I share. Maybe Sass is right, and it’s time to get that tattoo I’ve been wanting on my left hip.

Tripp is leaning against the counter talking to a beautiful lady. She’s probably in her fifties, but time has treated her well. There’s vibrancy in her eyes as she’s chatting with Tripp, her face telling the story of a strong woman. We approach the counter.

“Doll, Sass, this is Momma C. And Momma C, you remember Rex. This is Doll and Sass.”

Introductions out of the way, I’m overwhelmed with a sense of comfort. Momma C gives me a feeling of home. Being around her reminds me of being with the ol’ ladies of the club. The level of nurturing and compassion that is held in the depths of Momma C’s eyes washes over me. I’m smiling and I’m comfortable here even with all the chaos surrounding my life. Tripp was right, I’m safe here. Even without meeting Jared it’s obvious Momma C will protect those around her.

A man with spikey hair, gaged ears, and full sleeved tattoos emerges from the back room. He’s followed by a man that walks over to Momma C pulling out his wallet, making it obvious he is a client. Immediately, the spikey hair man greets Tripp and Rex with that man half hug, back slap shit. When he’s done, he stares at me momentarily. He extends his hand. When I place my hand in his, he holds it.

“Name’s Delilah, but everyone calls me Doll. You must be Jared.” I say looking into his eyes. They tell the story of a strong man.

“Beautiful name for a beautiful woman. Tripp’s a lucky mother fucker.”

I laugh at his comment. “Tripp’s not my man.”

He pulls me into a hug and whispers in my ear, “With the death glare he’s giving me, I think he may disagree, Doll.” He kisses my cheek before releasing me.

He greets Sass quickly and escorts us to the back office area. The client is done paying, raises his hand in a slight salute wave in goodbye as he exits the building.

“Mom’s locking up. Here’s the key to the apartment upstairs. I’ll be here the whole time. No one will get to you without getting through me.” Jared informs us as he’s handing Tripp a key.

We go upstairs to the tiny apartment and settle in. Tripp’s in the shower. I update Sass on what I now know on Delatorre. Sass and I are restless, so we head back down to the tattoo shop. Finding Jared at a desk drawing, I smile at his focus. He seems like he’s good people, and maybe I shouldn’t have doubted Tripp. I need to learn to trust him.

“You need somethin’ Doll, Sass?” Jared asks looking up from his design to both of us.

“I’d like a new tattoo.”

“Sure thing, whatcha thinkin’ of getting?”

“I want an eagle on my left hip, stretching out in flight. Not overly big, but in its talon, I want it holding a very girly heart, not a lifelike heart, a feminine heart and a shield.”

He pauses, as a strange look comes across his face. “Doll, why do you want this specific tattoo?”

“An eagle represents the freedom of the motorcycle club world I live in. It’s talon holding my heart and a shield for protection. All my life I’ve been guarded and loved by all of the Hellions, not just my dad.”

“You’re sure you want an eagle and not the Hellions insignia?”

Irritation consumes me. Why is he questioning me? This is his job. I’ll pay for the damn tat. Cocking my hand on my hip, I glare at Jared. “It’s not my place to wear the insignia. Look, if you don’t want to do the tat that’s fine, just say so, enough with the bullshit.” Looking over at Sass for some sort of comfort as my frustration builds, she shrugs her shoulders like this is no big deal.

Hearing a noise behind me, I turn to see Tripp in the doorway. His hair down and wet. With his arms over his head gripping the door frame, and his jeans slung low on his hips, I can clearly see the toned ‘v’ of his lower abdomen peeking out from his shirt. The tattoos on his arms on display, as usual. Holy hell, he’s hot.

“What bullshit?” Tripp asks looking back and forth between Jared and me.

“Nothin’. I wanted ink, but Jared’s asking eighteen hundred questions like I’m trying to get married or some shit.”

“Hold the fuck up, princess. Tripp may be interested to know the exact tattoo you’re talkin’ about marking your body with.” Jared pipes up. Sass backs away from me, leaving me inching closer to Tripp.

“I wanted an eagle with an outstretched talon holding a heart and shield. It’s whatever now, you guys seem to know better. I’ll get my fucking ink elsewhere. I’m going to bed.” As I start to move to the doorway, Tripp moves his arms off the frame. Great, he’s going to block my exit. Then, I watch as he removes his shirt. The ink adorning his body is all on display. I see the tats of his forearms go all the way up his shoulders and he has a dragon that peeks on both sides, maybe it wraps across his back. What has my attention though, is the large eagle over his left shoulder blade is coming down with an extended talon holding a lifelike heart and a shield.

He says nothing, as his muscles twitch involuntarily. Before I can stop myself, I’m standing mere inches from him, as I reach out and slowly trace the details of the design. I start at the white of the eagles head, delicately I outline the bird. As I reach his talon, Tripp stiffens underneath me. He grabs my hand holding it to his heart, the very place the heart of the tattoo lands. He drops his head, our faces cheek to cheek. His hair has fallen down off his shoulder it tickles my face as his breathing sends chills down my spine as it hits my ear.

“My name is Talon Ward Crews. Talon is for an eagle’s talon as its tool and its weapon. Ward meaning guard and protector. The eagle guards and protects my heart.” He whispers to me.

Tripp

The thoughts of having her like this for my lifetime brings warmth deep inside of me. Today, I bring her back to my house. Tonight, I will have her in my bed. Tomorrow, I return her to her world. Tomorrow, I say goodbye to my lifeline. Tomorrow, I say goodbye to my heart because when I leave, I leave it with her. As much as it’s going to suck, I’m going to leave her. It’s going to crush me, but I’m going to walk away. The other thing Pop’s always said, “Don’t give your woman unnecessary pain.” My life would be unnecessary pain for Doll.

I have all of today, tonight, and tomorrow’s ride to make sure Doll knows she’s my treasure. Starting in this moment, when I gently rub the back of my hand against her face. Knowing she’s asleep, I share what’s on my mind.

Whispering to her, “You’re everything, Doll. You’re the good in me. When the days get long, you’ll be what pulls me through. I’m gonna let you go, but I’m always gonna carry you with me.” I watch her breathing.

No longer able to contain myself, I move to kiss her forehead. Rolling her over, I kiss her cheek, then her neck. She’s waking up under me. I take my time trailing kisses over her neck and collar bone. She reaches up, running her fingers through my hair. Our eyes meet. The words are on the tip of my tongue, but unable to come out. I see the love this woman has for me in the depths of those piercing blue eyes. Does she see what I feel for her? Does she see the man behind the bike? Rather than speak the words, I spend my morning making love to her body. Taking in every second of this and committing it to my memory in a way to last me a lifetime.

Tomorrow, she’ll be home. Tomorrow, our ride will end. Tomorrow, I’ll be man enough to walk away. We’re in too deep. I never should’ve let this happen, emotions and entanglements are things I don’t do. Today, I’ll give her all of me. Today, I’ll take everything I can. Today, I’ll let my weakness for her consume me.

Chapter 1 – Rachel

Just a few more miles…Just a few more miles between him and I and it’ll be ok.

My hand was shaking as I took the last sip of my Red Bull. I hadn’t slept in three days and I’d been living on Red Bulls and candy. If I didn’t stop soon for a rest, my body was going to shut down.

I’d just made it through South Dakota. I thought about stopping to see Mount Rushmore, but I couldn’t. The more distance I could put between Buffalo and me, the better off I would be.

I crossed the state line into Wyoming, watching the sun set into the mountains. It was around nine at night and the highway was fairly empty. I saw a sign for Sheridan, Wyoming and decided to find a small hotel there for a night or two. I would probably be safe there; he’d never think to look for me way up here. We’d always talked about moving south to Florida, so hopefully he’d check down there first.

I exited the highway and turned into the parking lot of a small hotel with a diner attached. A shower and a home cooked meal sounded perfect right now. I grabbed my purse and headed inside to the front desk where an elderly woman greeted me. She looked more like a librarian than someone who would work behind the desk of hotel.

“Hey hun, what can I do for you?” She smiled at me so wide I couldn’t help but smile back. Her eyes darted to the bruise on my cheek and I self-consciously touched my face. Never again! Never again would I be embarrassed to be out in public because of something a man did to me.

“Do you have a room for a night or two?” I asked softly, my hands suddenly trembling. I shoved them in the pockets of my jean shorts so she wouldn’t notice.

“Just a second,” she said and looked at the screen next to her. After a few quick keystrokes, she turned back to me. “Yep, we have a room with a king-sized bed available on the second floor for two nights. Would you like it?”

I nodded, setting my purse on the counter and reaching inside for my wallet. I pulled out a few hundreds, hoping she didn’t notice the wad of cash I had in my purse. I didn’t want to draw any more attention to myself.

I paid for the room and she gave me my key. “The diner is attached and it’s open twenty-four hours a day. They have the best food there, breakfast especially.”

I took my key and thanked her before heading back out to my car. I grabbed a few bags, looking around to make sure I was alone before heading back inside to my room. Fuck him for making me so paranoid. I found it easily and threw my stuff on the bed. I looked at the bed longingly. I really wanted to lay down and pass out cold, but I needed a shower and food first

I opened one of my suitcases and found a change of clothes and my bathroom stuff. I turned the water on almost as hot as it would go, before stripping off my shorts and t-shirt. I glanced at myself in the mirror, wincing at the bruises he left on my arm. I pressed my fingers gently on my face and bit my lip, fighting back the tears. He didn’t matter anymore; I was never going to see him again.

I climbed into the shower, the hot water feeling almost like needles on my skin. I closed my eyes and leaned back, letting the water wash the grime of his touch and the road off of me. As I stood there, all the emotions I’d kept at bay the past few days came crashing over me. I started to sob, my tears mixing with the water running down my face. I reached out and leaned against the shower wall, my body shaking.

When I finally had no more tears left in me, I squared my shoulders, determined not to let him break me again. I quickly finished in the shower and got dressed, my stomach rumbling. I took my room key and some cash and headed out of my room. It was already eleven o’clock, but the lady at the front desk said they were open twenty-four hours, so I figured I’d check it out. I’d thought about just ordering a pizza and having it delivered, but after being locked in my car essentially for the past three days, I needed to get out.

I walked out of the front door of the hotel and turned the corner to the diner. As I opened the door, I was surprised to find the place busier than I’d expected at this time a night in small town Wyoming. My stomach made a noise I was sure the whole place heard and I quickly made my way to a booth in the corner.

I sat down and grabbed a menu. I was so hungry that everything on the menu sounded good. I finally decided on an omelet and toast before the waitress even made her way over to me.

“All set to order?” she smiled at me, her black hair back in a high ponytail.

“Yes, I’ll take a ham and cheese omelet, wheat toast, and some milk please.” My mouth was watering at the thought of eating real food. Living off of fast food gets really old really quick.

She finished writing down my order and tucked her pencil back behind her ear. “Sounds good. I’ll get that in right away and bring you some water, hun.”

She turned and I smiled. I’d been called ‘hun’ twice in one night. Where was I? People back home weren’t this friendly. Maybe I could get used to this.

I glanced around the restaurant, checking out the other patrons. There was a group of older men sitting at the counter, their clothes dirty, looking like they’d just come from work. A few booths away from me sat a young couple sitting on the same side. I rolled my eyes when they kissed, but a part of me felt a twinge of jealousy.

There were a few others scattered about but my breath caught in my throat when I noticed him. He was at a table nearby and I have no idea how I didn’t notice him earlier. He was busy reading the paper and drinking his coffee, but I could see his chocolate brown eyes, lashes so long most women would kill for them. He was wearing cowboy boots and a baseball hat, so I couldn’t see what color his hair was or how long it was. He was wearing jeans and I briefly wondered if they were Wrangler jeans and if they fit him like they did the guys in the commercials. A tight white t-shirt showed off his muscular arms and clung to his chest in all the right places.

He glanced up and nodded at me with a wink and a smile and I turned away quickly, feeling my face on fire at being caught staring. The waitress came over with my food just then, having seen the whole thing.

“He’s hot, isn’t he?” she teased as she set my food in front of me. I laughed and nodded. “His name is Clint. He comes in here all the time. He owns a big ranch nearby where he lives with his mom, sister, and brother. He’s one of the youngest ranch owners in Wyoming.”

I turned and stole another glance back at him. He’d folded up his paper and was getting ready to get up. As he stood up, my eyes moved down his body. Yep, he wore the jeans just like in the commercial. I swallowed hard and felt a stirring deep in my womb when he looked over at me again. It was like his eyes were looking into my soul. Sexy as he was, it was a little bit unnerving.

The waitress leaned down and whispered, “He’s single too.”

“I’m not – I didn’t,” I stammered, totally embarrassed again. Was I that obvious?

“Just thought you’d want to know the way you two are checking each other out,” she winked and turned around to head back to the kitchen. Wait – he was checking me out too? I didn’t see that.

I shook my head. I just left an asshole, I didn’t need another man right away. It didn’t matter that he was sex on a stick; I wasn’t interested.

I couldn’t help but watch him as I ate. He seemed to know almost everyone in the diner and stopped to talk to everyone on his way out. He shook hands with the guys sitting at the counter, laughing and talking with them before turning my way. Shit, he was going to come right past my table. I wanted to slide under the table so bad right now. I cursed myself that I didn’t bring a book or something to read so I could look totally busy when he walked by.

“Hey there,” he greeted me, his voice deep and smooth, like whiskey going down your throat. He tipped his hat at me and I thought I was going to swoon. I’d never met a real cowboy before. Growing up in Buffalo, NY, there was nothing but punk ass men who thought they were all that.

“Hi,” I said, setting down my fork and taking a drink of my milk.

“New around here?” he asked. I swore his eyes darkened when he noticed the bruise on my cheek and I suddenly wished I’d taken the time to hide it better with make up; I’d just swiped on some foundation, not even bothering with concealer.

“Just passing through,” I replied. Should I offer him a seat? But I didn’t know him. My heart was pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it.

He nodded. “Where ya headed?”

I shrugged. “Not sure. My plan was to just drive until I found a good place to stay.” Why was I being so open with this stranger? I rarely shared with people I knew and here I was telling a total stranger my travel plans.

“Hmm…Well, this is a good place to stay and if you need work, I can always use help on my ranch,” he grinned at me and my stomach did a flip-flop.

He put his hand out to shake mine. “I’m Clint. I own Hidden Lane Ranch just up the way.”

“Rachel,” I responded, taking his hand in mine. It was different than his hand; rough, like he knew how to actually do real work. He griped my hand tight and shook it. For a second I thought about what his hands would feel like on my soft skin and desire pooled between my thighs. Sweet baby Jesus, what was I thinking.

“Nice to meet you.” He released my hand. “I gotta get back to the ranch, but if you’re interested, talk to the ladies here. They’ll point you in the right direction.” He tipped his hat to me again. “Have a good night, Rachel.”

“Goodnight,” I managed to mutter. God the way he said my name made me tremble. What would it sound like if he whispered it in my ear while in the throes of passion?

I watched him leave the diner shamelessly checking out his ass in those jeans. I kept my eyes on him until I couldn’t see him in the dark night before turning back to my omelet that was now cold. I was finished with it anyway and paid before heading back to my room. I didn’t think I could keep my eyes open much longer.

I stripped off my clothes and climbed into bed naked. As I’m about to drift off to sleep, I thought about Clint’s job offer. Maybe he was right; maybe this was a good place to stay. Then I could be around his sexiness all day. I sighed and rolled over to my side, clutching a pillow against me. I just left a man, would it really be smart to have another in my life so soon?

The last thing I saw before I drifted off was Clint’s smile. I might have to check out his ranch in the morning.

Excerpt (18+):

Chapter One

Sunday was family dinner night. For most people this would mean a loving gathering of close relatives around the supper table, exchanging news and exciting gossip over home-cooked food.

But his was no ordinary family. With the exception of one new addition, all present were shapeshifters; large cats, wolves, and even one big-ass bear. As for Stu, one of the lupine diners, he was related, in an unfortunate twist of fate, to all of them.

To one side of him sat Chris, younger brother, pain in his ass, and newly married chump to the lovely and delicate Jiao. On his right, he had the entertaining Alejandro, his other brother Mitchell—whom he lived to tease—and feisty Francine, their mate as well as his sister’s best friend.

Across the table sat his loud-mouthed, bratty sister Naomi with her mates Ethan and Javier, accompanied by his adorable baby niece and nephew—who currently took turns spitting out food and chortling. Then there was his other brother Kendrick, his best bud Joel, and their human mate, Ruth, a plump and juicy morsel. Not that he said that aloud—he preferred to not bleed all over his favorite Despicable Me minion T-shirt.

His oldest brother, Derrick, was the only one of his siblings missing because he was off on some mission to save the world—he always had been an overachiever and champion ass-kisser.

Toss in his mom and dad at the heads of the table, and the noise level currently underway probably exceeded local bylaw levels. Not that anyone would dare complain. Their neighbors were shapeshifters too and would more likely pee on the leg of a ticketing bylaw agent than complain about one of their own.

Seeing as how the whole family was pretty much accounted for, it made the ringing of the doorbell surprising. What insane person would show up at dinnertime on a Sunday at his house? Then again, the table still had one empty seat, a seat his mother enjoyed glancing toward at least once a day before shooting him a pointed stare, a look that plainly said, “And when will you be settling down with a mate of your own?”

As if he’d be filling it anytime soon. He still intended to sow many more oats before settling down. Of course, the whole sowing thing required him leaving the house and going to places where he could meet girls. Stu wasn’t the social type. At least not in person.

While comfortable around close friends and family, Stu lacked a suave tongue when it came to conversing with women. Tongue-tied, shy, and awkward tended to strike whenever he tried to flirt. So he mostly stuck to online dating personals, which would work a lot better if most of the profiles didn’t belong to lonely old men getting their jollies. Stu still woke in a cold sweat every so often when he remembered the video of the last so-called woman he’d virtually dated. Needless to say, she turned out to be a very hairy he who enjoyed masturbating for an audience while wearing a bunny rabbit suit. It took a week for the blindness to wear off.

Before the chimes could ding a second time, his father excused himself to answer, not that anyone paid much attention. The various conversation threads flowed fast and furious as everyone caught up on the week’s events. Naomi and Francine gushed over the newest thing the wonder twins had accomplished while the guys all discussed the most recent roster changes on the Ottawa Senators line-up.

Stu paid little of it any mind. He just came down from his room to scarf down a plateful, inhale some of mom’s pie, and store some energy for the World of Warcraft attack he’d planned with a group of other online gamers for the evening. His level seventy-six mage had acquired some new spells and armor that he was dying to test out.

But, judging by his stirring wolf, those plans might get cancelled.

Something smelled good, and for once it wasn’t Ma’s homemade peach cobbler pie. Leaning back in his seat and ignoring the noise around him, Stu inhaled deep, sifting the various scents.

No doubt about it. A shifter had entered their home. Someone he’d never met, in person at least. A female. Sniff. Sniff. Feline. And coming this way.

Stu opened his eyes and saw her as she stepped into the dining room, a trim, thirty-something blonde with bobbed hair and vivid blue eyes. Damn, talk about hot! She looked like a man’s stripper fantasy in her perfectly pressed RCMP uniform, which, while stern, did nothing to hide her athletic build, softened by very womanly curves. But it wasn’t just her looks that caught his attention, more the fact that judging by the way his inner beast sat up and took notice, along with a certain body part, he’d just found his mate.

What an unexpected surprise. Not that she was older than him or a cat, but the fact he even had a mate. Still in his twenties—and, yes, twenty-nine counted—his track record with women wasn’t great. While at ease among friends and family, he turned into a bumbling idiot around women he found appealing. Even when he did manage to speak, his appearance often played against him.

Stu was into comfort. Well-worn jeans, T-shirts with cartoons and humorous sayings, oh and hair he let his mother trim, usually while licking the mixing bowl for the brownies, her bribe to get him to sit still while she hacked at his uneven locks.

Don’t get him wrong. While he wasn’t movie star handsome, he also wasn’t butt ugly. Just ask his momma.

Sitting ramrod straight in his seat, he plastered a smile on his face, wished he’d combed his hair, and hoped nothing was stuck between his teeth. Alas, despite his certainty that the woman who’d entered was his mate, his luck with women held true. Her eyes tracked over him and didn’t linger. So much for instant attraction. On the upside, at least she didn’t scream, gag, or run away.

“Patricia, grab a seat,” his mom yelled from the kitchen, not at all perturbed by the addition of another person at their rollicking, mismatched dining table.

His mind automatically began to hum Patricia Delicia. Great stripper song, but not the time for it. He shoved aside the naughty ditty sung by that crooner Chris De Burgh as he tried to concentrate on placing the woman. Why did her name sound so familiar? Surely if they’d met before he would remember.

With a husky voice that would have done well on a late-night radio show, she replied, “I can’t. I’m here on business. I’m looking for Stu Grayson.”

Business involving him? Given her attire and the seriousness of her tone, that couldn’t bode well. Had his illegal pirating of movies and MP3s finally caught up to him because, as far as he knew, surfing porn—and whacking off to it—wasn’t illegal. What were the chances he could slink off his chair, hide under the table, and sneak out the back door? Given the fact a Chihuahua wouldn’t make it through the maze of legs and feet, not good.

Only one thing to do. Man up and hope for the best.

Stu pushed back from the table, his chair screeching on the battered hardwood floor, and stood. “That’s me. What can I do for you?”

“Stu Grayson, I’m placing you under arrest.” Patricia dangled a set of metal cuffs, and jaws all over the place dropped.

Meet the Author

“Hello, my name is Eve, a Canadian mom who works full time as an author. In between juggling my three kids, hubby, and housework, I pen steamy romance–usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens lol. I love to write, and while I don’t always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a HEA.

Cover Reveal Breathe Again By Rachel Brookes

For Savannah Rae, the thought of living in her picture-perfect world was almost too much to comprehend. With her dream job, a family she could finally call her own, and the beginnings of the best chapter of her life, she still couldn’t shake the unnerving feeling that it was all too good to be true.

The thought of a life without Savannah was incomprehensible to Tate Connors. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would find his girl in the form of a sassy, stubborn, beautiful Australian. Finally he had the girl and life he so desperately wanted, but he still couldn’t ignore the fear that it would crash around him.

When Tate’s past becomes his present and Savannah’s present becomes her past, the possibility of a future together collides head-on with reality.

In her darkest days, the words Just Breathe provided a peaceful comfort to Savannah from the heavens above. Now as she and Tate go down the path of new beginnings, brutal endings, and the constant craving of a happily ever after, they are anxious to learn how to Breathe Again.

Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. Writing angst ridden love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance, a spoonful of sexiness and delicious men to season is what she loves to do. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can’t remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that’s because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop.  When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family. Having released Just Breathe and Breathless in 2013, Rachel is looking forward to a busy 2014 with the upcoming release of Breathe Again, the final book in The Breathe Series and many other books planned she can’t wait to continue this crazy ride.
