*A modern love story inspired by Romeo and Juliet*
Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancé drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.
She didn’t plan on attending a masquerade party.
She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago—the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.
Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.
But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.
Erica’s Thoughts: Holy hot book! I could not get enough of these two! How would you feel if you were dumped for getting married and when you are trying to forget that person, you run into the one person who could break you even more! Remi and Dax have one of the craziest starts I have ever read in a book…. Dax is the player who is afraid of love and Remi is your hopeless romantic, but this is not the normal story! When Dax and Remi run into each other at a local bar everything changes for the both of them. But we all know this isn’t sunshine and roses. Dax is very yes or no, black and white. Remi is gray, in the middle you have to believe in love. Anyways they both try to ignore the feelings and the pull that they have for each other, but it doesn’t work. Remi and Dax are made for each other and they are amazing together.
Alysha’s Thoughts: Filthy English, by Ilsa Madden-Mills, is an extremely sexy novel about two long lost lovers brought back together by fate. Sexy English man, and the quiet American girl brought together again by crazy circumstances. Only it helped them to remember just how much they enjoyed each other in the past. And with the great background of London at their disposal it turned into a fantastic Romeo and Juliet romance. Only they didn’t know how things would change once they went back to America.
Remi, and her best friend, Lulu, decided to go to London on the Honeymoon Remi was supposed to have with her supposed to be husband, Hartford. So instead of a honeymoon Remi and Lulu decided to go to a Masquerade party, one where Remi would run into the last person she wanted to see. The one man she fell in completely in love with over the course of three days together, the one who broke her to pieces in less time than that, Dax. It has been over two years since they last spoke, she has moved on to Hartford, and Dax had multiple women eating up his time. Dax happened to be in London at the same time to help his take care of (babysit) his cousin after his stint in rehab. Remi and Dax had no idea who they were until they shared their kiss at the party, which brought back all of the memories from there three days two years ago. Remi just wanted to get away from Dax as fast as possible and almost succeeded until he was attacked, and Dax was the one there to sve her. So instead of remembering the heartbreak they decided to be “just friends.” Only when they decided to go sightseeing, it started to become more of a Romeo and Juliet movie.
“Don’t you see? Romeo and Juliet fell in love at a masquerade party and were married the next day in secret by a Friar Laurence-in an old church. Of course it was set in Verona, but still…weird, right?”
Though things were not going to be that easy for them to clear the slate, Hartford had major plans to win Remi back, and returning to College in the states was going to take Remi and Dax on an interesting journey. Although Dax had no clue to the extent on which he hurt Remi the first time around, and once he found out would he be able to forgive himself enough to fight for Remi?
“Never have I ever loved someone so much that I’d get down on my knees and beg her to forgive me for being too young to know that what we had was the most beautiful thing in the world, and all I had to do was let go of my fears and lover her forever.”
Without much thought except for comfort, instinctively I pressed myself against him, fitting into his arms as easy as breathing. He leaned against the brick wall of the neighboring building and wrapped me up, sensing my need to be grounded.
I don’t know how long we stood like that—maybe a minute, maybe five—but soon our breaths were in sync; the rise and fall of his chest in perfect accord with mine.
One of his hands traced down my spine and then up. He outlined my shoulder blades with his fingertips. His hands drifted to my hips then caressed back up to my hair, massaging my scalp.
But what had started as an innocent hug changed.
Fire licked my skin everywhere he touched. Of their own accord, my hands slid down to his waist and teased the line where his jeans rested on his hips. I went further, my fingers toying with the V at his hip until I felt him harden against me.
Lips brushed the top of my hair. “Remi . . . look at me,” he said, his voice raspy.
If you look up, you’re going to kiss him . . .
I tilted my head up and his mouth fused with mine in an instant.
Insistent. Wild. Hot. Yes! This is what I needed.
I groaned, and my hands rushed to his shoulders and dug in.
He was wrong—terribly wrong—for me, but it felt so right.
I felt wonderfully alive, revved up, as if I could crush a car with my bare hands, or push Dax against the wall and fuck him senseless. I recognized the feeling for what it was—an I almost-died-and-now-I-want-to-experience-life feeling.
“Wait,” he breathed as I ran my hand under his shirt. “It’s adrenaline. You’ve been through a trauma. You don’t really want this—”
“Shhh.” I lifted his shirt and kissed his chest, my tongue flicking over his nipple. “You taste like every good thing I’ve ever wanted.”
His taut restraint snapped, and he swayed into me. “God, I can’t tell you no.”
