Caroline O’Connor never dreamed she’d be back home in Cold River, Missouri, the Ozark Mountain town where everyone is ‘up your business.’…they mean well as they drive you crazy. She thought she’d left town for good, but now she’s back, helping to care for her New York born mother—struck with Alzheimer’s, and prone to saying and doing anything—and her father, the beloved local doctor frustrated he can’t cure his own wife.
As for Caroline, she’s doing ‘just fine’ coping with her parents, her brazen cousin Ava Dawn’s marital disasters, her mostly-deaf dog…and with Noah Cranwell, far-flung relative of a local family mostly infamous for running moonshine, an ex-veteran who’s come to Cold River with troubles of his own.
Caroline believes she knows everything about Cold River and the people who live in its hills and hollers … but sometimes life’s greatest surprises happen closest to home.
Annie England Noblin keeps us on the edge of our seats while reading her book, Just Fine with Caroline. You can’t wait to find put exactly where this book is really going and the big secret is you keep reading about throughout the whole book. Truly a great read!
Caroline was always fascinated with the history of Cold River, and the Gangsters that would come around the little town during Prohibition. Since returning home to help take care of her mother nothing really changed much, so when she spotted a new person in the old Cranwell Station across from her family’s Bait shop she was naturally curious. The Cranwell’s were very secretive people, not letting people into their lives much at all, and definitely not humoring all the rumors of their family. So when the grandson of the Oldest Cranwell, Noah, came back into town looking to restore the family Station it started a buzz throughout town. Caroline and Noah were able to make a friendship out of it seeing as how they were practically neighbors, but once Caroline’s mother started thinking Noah was his Grandfather, Caroline had more questions about the secrets lying within Cold River.
