Blurb: In her page-turning new novel, T. Greenwood follows one woman’s journey through heartbreak and loss to courage and resolve, as she searches for the truth about a missing child.
Eight years ago, Tess and Jake were considered a power couple of the New York publishing world–happy, in love, planning a family. Failed fertility treatments and a heartbreaking attempt at adoption have fractured their marriage and left Tess edgy and adrift. A visit to friends in rural Vermont throws Tess’s world into further chaos when she sees a young, half-dressed child in the middle of the road, who then runs into the woods like a frightened deer.
The entire town begins searching for the little girl. But there are no sightings, no other witnesses, no reports of missing children. As local police and Jake point out, Tess’s imagination has played her false before. And yet Tess is compelled to keep looking, not only to save the little girl she can’t forget but to salvage her broken heart as well.
Blending her trademark lyrical prose with a superbly crafted and suspenseful narrative, Where I Lost Her is a gripping, haunting novel from a remarkable storyteller.
Where I Lost Her by T. Greenwood was an excellent suspense novel. I truly enjoyed the suspense on every single page of the book. The way T. Greenwood wrote Where I Lost Her was very well calculated on information. I could feel the pain and anxiety of Tessie, the main character, in her turmoil. My heart pulled to her to find the truth and continue to pursue her goals she deserved after all the heartbreak in her life
Tessie and Jake have some ups and down, mainly the downs have started to tear them apart. Tessie is able to see the reason why Jake is pulling away, things Tessie is unsure she even cares about anymore. So much has happened between them, they both have different goals in life, but Jake is all Tessie knows. It wasn’t until her weekend trip with her best friend, Effie, and her family, was when Tessie was able to realize Jake and her were no longer meant to be together. Just weekend at the Lake with friends, and then Tessie and Jake were supposed to take Effie’s oldest daughter to dance camp in New York. Only that first night being there changed everything. Tessie decided they needed more wine, well she needed more wine, and driving back to the cabin she almost ran into a little girl. Only when trying to save this child Tessie scared her off with her alarm. Filing a police report and starting up a search people were starting to think Tessie was crazy and just imagining things. Jake felt like Tessie was only trying to get attention like she had before when she ended up losing their potential child. Tessie felt in her heart that this little girl was in big danger and decided to take it upon herself to act on this feeling. Tessie knew what she wanted in life now and that didn’t involve Jake anymore, it involved helping this child and hopefully becoming a mother one day. Tessie was thankful for the security and support of her best friend. She knew now that she can take back control over her own life. Only she needed to help this little girl first, but how could she do that when there are no traces of her.
