Author L.U. Ann moved to Colorado from the Eastern Shore of Maryland with her husband and two children. Life in Colorado is so much different. In Maryland, you would find her in the garden tending to her vegetables and flowers, sea glass and shark tooth hunting once a week, and enjoying the kids swimming in the backyard. Her life took a drastic change when her family moved to their own “Little House on the Prairie” at an elevation of over 6,000 feet above sea level, and a semi-arid climate that makes it hard to grow anything. While barely anything can grow where she resides now, the wildlife makes up for it. Mountain Lions, and coyotes, and rattlesnakes, oh my!

She tries to spend a little time each day writing, but domestic chores around the house usually take precedence. She would much rather hide them from her husband. She tends to her loving four-legged children who at times become much too demanding when she locks herself in the office. This often results in MORE domestic work, and she finds herself cleaning up after their deviant behavior.

At night, you’ll find her begging the kids to go to bed so that she can catch up on the latest book before her sister can. Yes, she is an avid reader who escapes her chaotic but wonderful home to the feisty depths of romance land in search of her newest book boyfriend. Shh, don’t tell her husband!

She is an artist by the grace of God. She worked as a set designer for six years, helping establish a local children’s theatre where she was the scenery artist, set, and prop designer. Before that, you would find her covered in paint, so engrossed in painting a mural that time didn’t exist. Graphic design is her guilty pleasure.

Special Note From L.U. Ann

I created this Young Adult Edition to reach a wider audience. Lacey is nineteen years old and finishing high school. The issues she faces are the very issues a teenager could be facing right now, some possibly even younger.

This series deals with heavy life issues. Issues that are real. It may not be for everyone, but it’s a reality for so many. I hope you take some valuable information away from reading A Destructive Novel series. If anything, please read the resources found in the back of each book.

Thank you for the opportunity to tell Lacey’s story. My story.

Synopsis

How far would you go to get something you really wanted?

Emily Malone has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Paul, all her life.

Unfortunately, he just sees her as his friend’s little sister.

Desperate and infatuated, Emily resorts to lies and deception.

She only needs one night with Paul, to finally get over this obsessive crush.

But Fate has other ideas. . .

Meet the Author

NikkiCocktailThree time Amazon Bestselling author Nikki Sex writes sexy contemporary romance, often involving a bit of kink. She’s also a sucker for Happily Ever After endings, so no matter how dark her stories get, fear not! It always all works out in the end.

excerpt

Am I really going to do this?

Emily Malone had gone over her plan a thousand times, maybe more. Should I? Shouldn’t I? The answer was always the same because there really wasn’t a choice at this point. She’d done too much, and come too far not to go through with it.

I have to. It’s the only way.

She looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize herself.

Emily’s normally long, dark brown, wavy hair was recently cut short, straightened and bleached white-blonde. She’d styled it in a wild, uninhibited sort of “just tumbled” look. Not long ago, she wore glasses in an “a la geek” style. Now, colored contact lenses turned her light-blue eyes dark brown. With the addition of silk eyelash extensions, her eyes looked striking.

The stranger staring back at her in the mirror struck a pose, further exposing her generous cleavage in that tight red halter. Emily practiced an alluring smile – creating a slutty, eager, “come hither” seductive look.

Yes. Perfect!

That seemed to be exactly the kind of girl Paul Jarman went for, she mused. He never went out with “nice” girls. He liked experienced, big breasted, naughty girls who put out. He was looking to get laid – not looking for love. There was something about him, too. Every girl seemed to instantly fall in love with Paul, probably because he didn’t commit to anyone. Ever.

Well, he won’t want to commit to me either, but who cares? I just want to have sex with him.

“The only way to banish temptation is to give into it,” the saying went. She sure hoped it was true. Emily intended to finally scratch that long term, never ending itch of hers. There was a fine line between “hopeful persistence” and “stalking.” Clearly she’d gone well over that line. Hell, she’d literally and metaphorically driven past state borders and even left the country when it came to “crossing the line.”

Emily frowned, frustrated by the mystery. How do normal people get over their first love? What she felt for Paul was a bone-deep ache that never went away.

Being obsessed with someone was like being caught in Chinese handcuffs, or finger traps. The more she struggled and fought the infatuation, the tighter the cuffs held on. She told herself that if she just had one night of mind blowing, intense, no-holds-barred, toe curling sex with the object of her fixation, then maybe, just maybe she’d finally get over him. Maybe then, she could move on with her life.

At least, that was the plan.

~~~
Please God, don’t let him recognize me.
Emily stood before Paul, facing him. “Hey, hot guy,” she said in a low, sultry purr. “Where can a girl sit if she wants to join you?” She placed her hands on her waist and crooked a leg in a provocative catwalk model pose.
Paul gazed up at her, with interest and amusement sparkling in his light hazel eyes. Those eyes of his had always entranced her. Just now, they looked chocolate brown, but in sunlight or a well-lit setting, Paul’s irises were a beautiful bright green near the pupil.
His eyebrows rose into an arch as she looked down at him. The corners of his mouth lifted as a slow smile curled his lips. Emily’s breath hitched when a nearly tangible frisson of attraction passed between them.
Before she knew his intent, Paul gave a delighted, low-pitched laugh and swept her onto to his lap. One of his arms lay across her thighs, the other around her back, holding tight to one of her hips.
“Oh!” For an empty space of time, Emily stopped breathing.
Her mind went blank as every brain cell she had seemed to disappear. Evidently, said brain cells had been replaced by rampant female hormones, all exuberantly singing, “Take me! Take me! Take me!”
For a moment, Emily totally forgot the part she was supposed to be playing, as electric jolts of joy and pleasure rolled through her, making her skin tingle. All the years of desire she’d bottled up inside, popped open and exploded, spraying like shaken, uncorked champagne. Was it the alcohol that made her whole body flush and her head swim? Or was it just Paul? She felt drunk, intoxicated by the scent, sight, sound and feel of him.
I’m in Paul’s arms! I’m in Paul’s arms!
It was a heady experience.
He smelled so good. Hot, muscular and male. An all-consuming need for him spiked through her in an instant of sharp arousal. It was as if a bolt of lightning struck her, right between her legs, smack into her womb. Her body heated and pulsed; her breasts ached and her nipples hardened, their taut peaks brushing against her lacy bra. Until that moment she’d been unaware of any friction between the lace and her sensitive nipples.
Emily adored Paul when she was a child. He’d always been kind to her, he listened to her, and made her laugh.
Then when she became older, and her body became flooded with hormones, she really noticed him. He was tall, and strong and handsome. And he had that sexy smile that somehow made her melt inside. Paul had been the object of her every sexual fantasy – from the first time she ever had a sexual fantasy, for as long as she could remember.
Oh man, I want him so bad.
“Hey, beautiful,” Paul said, his eyes flaring with unconcealed lust. “What’s your name?”
Emily stared at him, frozen into stillness by his intense gaze. The velvet timbre of his voice was deep and so incredibly mellow. It was the same voice that she loved to listen to all of her life – except that now it had a sexy, seductive tone to it.
Dazed and aroused, Emily’s lips parted. For a moment she honestly couldn’t recall how to speak. Remembering how to breathe seemed to be problematic, too. There was a long pause while she tried to right her universe that had tilted so dramatically.
“Candy,” she replied with a gasp, abruptly remembering the fake name she’d adopted specifically for this occasion.
“Of course it is,” Paul murmured with a quick, easy laugh. His eyes sparkled with dry irony.
Thank, God! He doesn’t recognize me, Emily thought with relief. But I hardly recognize him, either – not from the way he’s acting toward me.
Paul Jarman, the unrequited love of her life was hitting on her! Emily realized that this was “Charismatic, seductive, Paul,” as opposed to “Protective, indulgent, treat-me-like-a-younger-sister, Paul,” that she had grown used to over the years.
Charismatic, seductive, Paul was a man that she’d never met before, but holy hell! She sure planned to get to know this Paul better. Intimately, in fact.
Emily’s older brother, Reese, was Paul’s best friend. When they were kids, Paul lived on the same street as Emily and her family.
Paul had been Emily’s first teenage crush, but she’d never gotten over him. After all those years, throughout everything, Emily’s infatuation for her brother’s best friend had never once wavered. She’d had boyfriends over the years, and wasn’t an innocent, but Paul remained her only love. Now, even after three years without seeing him, the familiar pull of her attraction toward him was still there, stronger than ever.
And now I’m in his arms.
It was better than any of her countless fantasies.
Paul’s eyes narrowed as he studied her, slowly starting at her toenails (which were red from a recent pedicure). His hungry gaze appreciatively slid up her legs, then drank in her torso. Emily’s breath caught, and her nipples tightened when his vision lingered caressingly on her breasts. Finally his eyes stopped and focused on her lips. Was he going to kiss her?
Please! Please! Please!
Paul’s intense scrutiny made her shiver with a strange combination of apprehension and lust. Signs of Emily’s arousal were obvious to anyone who cared to look. Her skin was flushed, her breathing shallow and rapid, lips parted, eyes wide. She was drunk with arousal.
Emily figured that Paul could spot a horny girl a mile away. It was a talent that had served him well, if the rumors about him were true. Just now, he couldn’t miss the throbbing puddle of aching desire sitting on his lap.
For what seemed like forever, Emily had concealed her powerful yearning for Paul. How could she hide it now, when the warmth of his body overwhelmed her senses, seeping into her bones, her mind, and soul? But tonight she was Candy, and there was no reason to hide.
She wanted him… and she wanted him to know it.
Paul stroked her hypersensitive skin with rough fingers, tracing along the contours of her calf, running up past her knee, and boldly moving under her skirt to mid-thigh. Emily’s eyes widened as she became aware of Paul’s interest, in the form of the rigid length of his erection pressed against her hip. His hand moved confidently, calloused and warm. It gripped her thigh with firm possession. Like that thigh belonged to him.
Like he owned her. And at that moment, he did. Wow!
Buzzed, pliant and entranced by his attention, Emily wanted to melt right into him.
“I’m Paul, and this is Jai,” he crooned, nuzzling her neck. “You smell good.”
“A pleasure to meet you,” Jai said with a nod.
She stared at Paul, devouring him with her eyes. Trying to calm her rapid heartbeat, Emily forced her gaze to Paul’s friend. The man’s ancestry clearly originated from India, but he had a British accent. Maybe he’d been born in the UK? Observing the position of Paul’s hand up her skirt, Jai’s mouth twitched, curving into a knowing grin. His teeth were very white against his dark skin.
“Can we buy you a drink, Candy?”
“Yes, thank-you,” she murmured. The plan was to limit her replies to breathy, whispered comments, to prevent Paul from recognizing her voice. “A margarita, please.”
Paul easily caught the attention of a waitress despite how packed the place was. The woman hurried to his table to take his order, fawning all over him, like a peasant to a king. This was no surprise to Emily.
Quarterback and track star with perfect grades, he’d been voted as ‘Most likely to Succeed’ in High School. Paul had always been in command of himself and everyone around him. Where did all that self-assurance come from? Good looks? High IQ? Physical health and fitness? Take your pick.
Emily just wished that she had half of his natural, easy confidence. It certainly added to his allure, making him even more attractive. It was as if Paul had a gravity of his own. People seemed to revolve around him like planets, caught up in his powerful magnetic pull.
“Hungry?” Paul asked, gesturing to the generous spread of Mexican fare on the table. He spoke with a quiet intensity that made her focus all her attention on him.
Emily boldly met his gaze. “Not for food,” she replied in a low voice.
She was proud of herself with that answer. Regaining her slutty experienced persona and confirming her interest was important. It was true, anyway. Right now, Emily couldn’t eat a thing – unless it was Paul. He was a feast for her senses. Overwhelmed, she looked away.
It was all she could do to sit still. Emily wanted to writhe with nerves. Raw lust roared through her in a steady urgent wave. Her skin, her nerve endings, her entire body was hypersensitive. She longed to kiss him, to lick his hard male abs, and run her hands all over his body. She felt empty, needy and desperate.
“Look at me, Candy,” Paul’s voice became forceful and uncompromising. “Eyes on me.”
Dazedly, she lifted her head and met his gaze. Candy swallowed, hard. His eyes flared and darkened. Her chest went tight in response. This was Paul, the man she had adored for as long as she could remember. The man she loved, and always would. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for him… or to him, for that matter! Whatever he wanted.
I’m a slave to love, she thought. More like a slave to Paul Jarman. But just then she didn’t care.
Emily’s breath hitched when Paul took her hand, and brought it to his lips.
Gently he bit the meaty flesh, just under her thumb. Emily was unable to hold back a moan. His sensual lips twitched into an eloquent smile at her response. Paul knew exactly what he was doing. Stroking, caressing, he kissed where he’d caused that sharp bite of sensation. Then he began to play with her fingers, tracing the length of them with his hand and mouth. Sensual and seductive, he teased and toyed with her hand.
Just like he was teasing and toying with her.
The stubble on his face brushed against her skin and she jerked as a blast of sensation coursed through her like an electric current. God dammit, his every touch was so erotic! A strange roaring began in her ears. She heard a whimper when he pressed his lips to her inner wrist in a soft kiss; it sounded like it came from someone else.
Unexpectedly, he licked and then nipped her there. It hurt – but it didn’t. It was so much more than pain. Lightning struck once more, only this time incandescent heat speared in a direct line from her wrist to her feminine core.
Holy shit! Liquid warmth pooled low in her belly. Her slick channel clenched and a rush of moisture trickled between her thighs. Emily didn’t think that she had ever been so aroused, and he had barely touched her. Already she was prepared to spread her legs for him right here and right now, on this table, the floor, his lap or wherever he wanted.
“Oh, God,” she whispered, mesmerized.
Defenseless and exposed, she wanted to avert her face from his knowing eyes, but was unable to look away. Emily had heard of spontaneous combustion, and in the back of her mind she wondered if this is how it happened.
The set of Paul’s jaw firmed but his eyes were bright as he examined her in a triumphant, measured gaze. His calloused hand returned to her leg, slowly skimming over her skin, moving higher up her skirt than before. This time, as he gripped her thigh, he stretched two fingers out – so that the tips of them pressed softly against her drenched panties.
Candy’s eyes widened and her whole body stilled, absorbing that wonderful erotic touch. Captured and unable to break away, his gaze held hers.
There was no escape.
Paul moved his magical fingers back and forth, back and forth with a feather light touch along her damp, cloth covered flesh. Her breath began to hitch in little gasps of desire. With a desperate whimper she arched toward him. A low moan escaped her lips as he pressed the cloth of her panties deep into her wet folds.
“You’re a needy little thing, aren’t you?” he observed in a soft, seductive voice. His face remained dispassionate while those clever digits of his continued to tease and probe. “Just my kind of woman. I know what you want,” he murmured with husky confidence. “If you’re a good girl, I’ll give you exactly what you need.”
Thankfully the waitress broke the spell when she arrived with Emily’s drink.
Paul slowly drew his hand out from under her skirt with unhurried, lazy disregard. The man paid not the slightest attention to the sexy waitress, and because he didn’t, somehow neither could she.
It was as if there was no one else. They were in this room alone together.
With an open stare, he met her gaze. Then he licked the pad of his fingers with slow and thoughtful deliberation.
“Very nice,” he said with a playful wink.
OhGodohGodohGod! Her cheeks flushed with heat. Emily’s margarita went down quickly. She’d spent months arranging this meeting. Her current persona, Candy, had a full imaginary background, including siblings, a job, a home and even her own email address. Emily had carefully compartmentalized the two personalities. It was the only way she could pull this off.
Yet already, she was off balance, confused and lost. Her senses whirled, her breasts grew heavy and between her legs her swollen flesh throbbed. Who was she? Was she still playing a role? Candy and Emily seemed like the same person right now, both burning from a raging tide of desire.
Get it together, Emily. Remember the plan. You can do this, and Paul will never know.
Paul, Jai and Emily chatted for a while, flirting and doing the “getting to know you dance” that proceeded a night of hot sex.
Emily was no virgin, but she was pretty choosy when it came to getting naked with anyone. She’d always enjoyed the closeness of kissing and cuddling as she suspected most women did. Who didn’t have a natural desire for intimacy? For physical and emotional connection? The problem for Emily had always been that no matter who she slept with, or even when pleasuring herself – if she climaxed it was because she imagined being with Paul.
“Do you want me, Candy?” Paul whispered into her ear, his hot breath moving over her skin, causing a delicious tingling sensation along the nape of her neck. “Because I want you. Right now.”
Staring at her hands in her lap, Emily nervously swallowed. She couldn’t speak. Instead she nodded, almost shyly. She was out of character, but somehow coming across slutty in answer to such a blindingly obvious question just couldn’t be done. Did she want him? Hell, yes! More than she’d ever wanted anything.
Emily opened her mouth, but found that she was still unable to answer. How could she reply to such a question when she’d ached for him forever, body, heart and soul?
Paul cupped her chin and tipped up her face, gazing at her in a determined expression. Eyes darkening, they captured hers. Emily wanted to look away from such burning intensity, but she couldn’t. A kick of fear and arousal slammed into her as his power and dominance overwhelmed her senses. She felt exposed and vulnerable to his intense, scrutiny. Could he see right through her?
“Tell me, Candy,” Paul demanded in a deceptively quiet voice. “I need to hear the words. Tell me what you want.”
“I want you.” Her whispered reply was soft and unsteady.
“Good girl,” he murmured with a slight smile, as he released her from his penetrating gaze. “I like a woman who knows what she wants.” He laughed then, a light, joyous sound. “Candy. I can’t even imagine anything sweeter than what I have right here in my lap. Can you, Jai?” Paul said, glancing up at his friend. “Jai and I have just come off a boat. Neither of us have enjoyed the company of a woman for a while.”
Emily knew that already; she’d been waiting for him. Paul had signed on as crew for a number of small boats, travelling to incredible places, working odd jobs, and doing so many interesting things. She was jealous because he was footloose, and had no responsibilities. But why was he including Jai in his “company of a woman,” comment?
Paul’s breath whispered, once more, seductive and warm over her ear. His arms tightened around her. One big palm lightly grazing the outer edge of her breast in lazy, sensual strokes. Emily shut her eyes, overwhelmed by the incredible sensation of it.
“Jai and I could make you climax all night long. Are you up for a threesome?”
What? Emily’s mind blanked while she processed what Paul said. It took a fraction of a second before she understood, but then she stiffened and her eyes flew to Jai’s face.
She couldn’t have been more stunned if a bucket of ice water had been thrown over her. A threesome? Really? God no! Emily was sexually experienced, but not with that kind of experience. For the love of God, how would that work? Her, Paul and Jai, all having sex together? At the same time? Paul wanted that? Yikes! What else did he want?
Jai clearly registered her immediate expression of shock and dismay because he chuckled and said in his formal British accent, “I believe that the young lady in question is only interested in you, Paul.”
“Candy,” Paul said. She immediately met his gaze, complying instantly and instinctively to his unspoken command. “Jai and I are good together. We know exactly how to please a woman. You have no idea what you’d be missing out on. If you haven’t had a threesome, now is the time to try it.” He stared at her with open lust.
Emily swallowed hard. “I’m sorry. Maybe next time,” she paused and added, “or later tonight?” No way, she thought, but they didn’t need to know that. “What I really want is you.” She gave an intentionally light shrug and forced a laugh. “There’s a long night ahead of us. Who knows how it will end?”
“Not as experienced as you look, are you, little Candy?” Paul said with a knowing smile. “Never mind.” He grasped her waist and effortlessly set her on her feet. Then he stood up. The bulge in his jeans was impressive. “Do you have a room, or shall I get one of my own?”
Candy grinned. “I have a room.”
The emotion behind her joyous smile wasn’t forced or fake. Candy and Emily were the same person now. Both desperate, greedy and more than ready. It was liberating not to have to hide her desire, to show Paul how she felt about him – even if he didn’t know that she was Emily.
Shifting restlessly, Emily swallowed. Orgasms didn’t usually come easy for her, not without serious foreplay. But just now she wondered if she’d peak screaming, the moment Paul touched her. She was so primed and hot for him.
Paul met his friend’s gaze.
“Don’t worry about me,” Jai said, surveying the mass of young women in the Cantina. “I won’t be lonely. Send me a text. I’ll come to you, if I’m not otherwise engaged.” Jai’s accent was sexy. The white flash of his grin was boyishly charming. The combination was devastating. Emily knew that the man would hook-up with ease.
Paul pulled her body possessively against his, stroked her hair and trailed his hand down to her lower back. His touch was electrifying. Emily took in a deep steadying breath, trying to keep it together until they were alone.
Picking up his duffel, he said, “Ready?” There was no mistaking the gleam in his eyes. He fully intended to bury himself deep inside her. Soon. Raw need clawed at her. She shivered with the just thought of it.
“Yes, I’m ready,” Emily said. Another understatement. She’d been waiting her whole life for this. Now, it was all coming together. Sex. Scratching her never-ending itch. Getting fucked by Paul Jarman – hopefully all night long. Her strategy was moving along perfectly, exactly as she planned.
What could possibly go wrong?
When I entered the bar’s main bar area, I stopped dead in my tracks. Suddenly, all the blood rushed to my head and my palms began to sweat profusely. Sitting in a chair directly in front of me was the handsomest man I had ever seen or, as they would say in Greek, an “Adonis”. His muscles rippled out from under his sleeves and his smile could probably light the sky when dark. OMG, and those amber eyes…I felt hypnotized by them. His dark caramel colored skin and tight curls made my mouth water. I knew I looked like a fool standing there staring at him, but I couldn’t break my eyes away. Once he looked over at me, I broke my gaze. I couldn’t let him catch me gawking at him.  Where had I seen this man before?
All of a sudden, I felt a push from behind and I fell forward. Feeling and probably looking flushed, I looked up to see the Adonis had his hand out in front of me. I was afraid to take it because I knew my own hand was sweaty, but I gave in and took his hand anyway. Time froze as my hand entered into his. There was a questionable look on his face; he was glaring at the man who had pushed me forward.  He yelled, “Hey arse, watch where you’re going!” The man turned and looked at him as if he was going to come back over to us. Instead, he just cursed under his breath and continued walking.  “Are you okay, Miss?” he asked in his Aurian accent. What was it with guys and accents? Most American women fall over themselves for a man with an exotic accent.  I was dazed and confused, trying to process everything that had just happened. “Miss, Miss,” he grumbled.
Fading back into the moment, I finally stated, “Yes, I’m fine.  Thanks”. I thought I was going to drop dead from embarrassment. He looked at me with those beautiful amber eyes and I thought, “Oh God, you are gorgeous.”  I peered down at my dress to make sure I was truly alright and noticed a red spot on my dress.
Again, my Adonis spoke, “I think you’re bleeding”.
I removed my hand from his hand and excused myself. I headed as fast as my legs could carry me, without running, to the restroom to get myself cleaned up. Flustered, I pulled my dress up and noticed a long scratch on my lower thigh. I immediately dabbed water onto a paper towel and cleaned the wounded area. “Ahh, that’s better,” I mumbled under my breath. I returned to the bar area to thank the man once again but he was nowhere in sight. I shrugged and sat at a table near the back.  Guess I won’t be seeing him again. I strolled over to the bar to order Roast and Potatoes, my favorite meal here. Finally, my dinner arrived. As I cut into the first slice of roast, I heard the voice again, “Are you sure you’re okay?” he whispered into my ear. His husky voice vibrating sent shivers down my spine. Where in Heaven’s name did he come from? I thought for sure he was gone from the bar a moment ago. I turned around to see him grabbing the back of my chair. We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity.
 “Yes, I’m sure,” I answered truthfully. “Thank you again for your help.”
“Sure thing,” he said, “I wouldn’t want a beautiful woman like you getting hurt.” I blushed at his compliment and turned my head back to my plate. When I lifted my eyes to respond, he was gone once again. Was I imagining this person? Where had he gone?  This was the second time that this happened to me.
I am originally from Oklahoma, but have lived several places in my life. I began writing in 2009 when I had a dream about a little girl traveling with her grandmother. In essence that is how Jessie Discovers Christmas was born. I then ventured out into YA and adult romance. I hold a bachelors degree in
Fashion Marking and a Masters in Administrative Leadership. I love all things creative and hope to a full-time writing career.
Synopsis
My name is Livie Marie Acosta. I am a firm believer that childhood memories are supposed to be happy, joyous, and beautiful. I also believe everyone else in life has just that… except for me, of course.
I came close to having that once with my own family. I had a loving mother that treated me like her little princess. My father was, and still is, the biggest support system in my life, but even his love isn’t enough for me at times. I would have been a proud big sister at the age of seven, but Antonio Jr. was torn away from us before he was even born.
I was destined to be alone and hurt, both emotionally and physically scarred.
The only skeletons that remained of my once happy family was a father I adored, but who lived hundreds of miles away, and a mother whom I had spent most of my own life saving from her demons.
Like many people, they are scarred so deep that when they bleed, it is a reminder that they are still human.
I have a secret. A secret only I know about. I keep my secret well, and keep it hidden from the peeping eyes of the world.
At least I tried… that is until two angels barged into my life, and into my scattered heart. Their presence in my life spun me on my heels, turning my world yet again upside down, and right side up all at the same time.
What I find could either save me, or finally push me over the edge.
Here is my story…
Author PictureMy name is Melissa DeOlmos, a newbie to the world of indie writing. I live in sunny side Palm Bay, Florida with my two lovely crazies ages five and two, along with my Law Enforcement champ of a husband. I could say that writing novels has been a passion that I’ve always pursued, but I can’t. Writing for me has always been my own secret escape into a land of wonders, opportunities, loves and so much trouble that I sometimes wonder if I need medication for the stories that pop into my head. I am now deciding to share my mystical mind and stories with the world, so that hopefully others may also find that little something extra they’ve been looking for. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my books.
excerpt
Livie and Lawrence
I heard someone clearing their throat, causing me to snap my head up from my phone. Coming around the corner was a tall and very, very hot guy. I must have turned into a deer caught in some kind of bright and sexy as hell headlights. Since when did Paul Walker buff up and open an MMA studio.
“Can I help you?”
Realizing my mouth was open, I snapped it shut and nervously stuffed my phone in to my pocket. “Yes. I was actually wondering if the owner was hiring for staff yet. I saw an article in the paper highlighting a new MMA studio opening. Do you know where I can find the owner?”
“You’re looking at him, Sunshine.” I looked him up and down from head to toe again.
“Serious?” He looked a little offended by my response, but he looked so young to be in this business. He should be modeling or catching some hang ten waves as a professional surfer. He had that look about him.
“Ouch, Sunshine. What’s wrong with me being the owner?” He asked honestly while crossing his thick arms across his chest, and those biceps were oh so yummy.
“Sorry… I didn’t mean for it to sound so rude. You just look very young to be in this type of business. I hope I didn’t offend you.” His smile returned and it instantly calmed me.
“Sunshine, you don’t have to apologize,” he said as he made his way toward me. He extended his hand out and I took it in mine shaking it firmly. Dad always said a firm handshake was a sign of respect. His touch was warm and soothing. Something about him made me feel extremely comfortable. It wasn’t just that he was sexy and looked like the delicious Paul Walker. His energy enveloped me and calmed me for some reason. “I’m Lawrence Grant Hawthorne. Nice to meet you.” Letting go of his hand I smiled back.
“Livie Acosta. Nice to meet you, too.”
“So you say you’re looking for a job? Here at my studio?” He asked this in a rather incredulous way. I ignored the dumb look on his face, because honestly, he didn’t know I could put him on his ass in a second. I reached into my shoulder bag and pulled out my portfolio. “Yes. I am interested in working for you, especially, if you are going to turn this studio into an MMA training facility. That’s what I read in the paper.”
He took my portfolio and opened it, keeping an eye on me as he perused it. He flipped it open and skimmed through it. This guy was tall, and I had to tilt my chin up just to make eye contact. God, I hated being short right now! As quickly as he opened the folder, he closed it and handed it back.
“Okay, Livie. You seem to have some experience in martial arts, and if you want to work for me, you wouldn’t mind showing me what you’re made of, would you?”
Cocky son of a bitch. I reached over, pulled my shoulder bag off, and laid it on the counter. I emptied my back pocket of my phone and car keys. Smiling, I looked up at him. “I thought you’d never ask.”
Alysha’s Thoughts:So I really enjoyed book 1, Bound, but I think Captive was a little better only because of Kate’s story. Ryke and Kate are able to find their way into each other’s arms. Now that they are married they want what every couple wants, a baby. So after trying they are finally pregnant, only to have Kate wake up and have miscarried. This is really the point in their marriage that they are going to need to fight for each other. Kate really hits a depression, while Ryke being on the road has no idea how to help. It takes a while but Kate realizes she needs to fight for her marriage and support her husband in every aspect. Pryor and Kate start the adoption process and decided it doesn’t matter where their baby comes from. Things seem perfect until Kate is pregnant again. Kate is at a point where she can’t love this baby because she knows she will just lose it anyway. While Rkye is so excited but trying to remain neutral for Kate. There is one child out there though that Kate has already fallen in love with. Will she be able to make her dream come true with this child? Captive really shows how much Kate and Ryke have to fight for each other as well as themselves. They are still dealing with their past, but if they fight hard enough they can have the life they want together. I really loved this book, it really shows you that when you love someone so much you always fight for them.
excerpt
The dark creature walked over to me, unusually close, the heat from his skin leaping onto mine. He held up his open palm. As if entranced, I placed my hand upon his and our fingers laced together. Suddenly the darkness of his eyes was illuminated with swirls of hypnotic colors circling each other in the very middle where his pupils should be.
I knew I shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t be touching this sinful creature, but I couldn’t stop. His touch was hot with a passion I had never known before, yet so familiar. I was caught in a trap that I never wanted to get out of.
His other hand dug into my hair and jerked my head back, his breath hot on my neck, his eyes peering into mine.
“How many more, ma’am?” a fireman shouted out above the sirens.
The female just stood there in front of the smoldering shelter before her, both hands covering her face, ashen-filled tears falling from the edge of her jaw.
“Ma’am!” the fireman hollered out. “Who else are you missing?”
The wind changed directions. I looked up to see another angel passing by, carrying the breeze along with her. She raised her hand ever so slightly to wave. I nodded at her.
The fireman covered his nostrils with the inside of his arm as the wind carried the sultry smoke toward him.
The female seemed unaffected by the smoke. She just kept staring at that front door, her apprehension more of a focus now as she waited. “Two,” she finally replied.
“Did she say two?” another guy asked.
“Two?” he asked her again to confirm.
Never looking his way, she nodded. “My husband, he went back in for our oldest son.”
“Who are you?” I whispered, my chest heaving up and down from his firm grasp on my hair. My anger flared. I should kill him for putting his hands on me like that, but it felt so good.
He narrowed his eyes at me for a moment before answering, “Draco.”
Draco.
He released me as I stood up straight, facing him. I knew who this strange creature was. I had heard about him on my travels. He was a solider of the dark, with strength witnesses marveled at. Most of the soldiers of the dark were cowards who slithered here and there with little, if any, common sense about their purpose or duty at hand. It was said that this Draco’s loyalty surpassed all others. But there was one other tidbit I had heard that was even more unusual. Those who worked with him, who were on the same side, seemed to like him. It was a concept unheard of for the dark side. Everyone was your enemy and everyone hated each other.
“And you are?” he asked.
If I said my name, he’d know who I was as well, and he’d run away. My intrigue was far too deep to have him disappear just yet.
“It doesn’t matter, does it?” I said.
He smirked, a dimple forming in the side of his cheek.
In Alex’s absence, the determined Oliver Prescott has the opportunity to win over Elyssa’s affections. But, when untimely events bring Alex back from New York sooner than expected, Oliver soon realizes that battles of the heart are not easily won.
Coming home to an empty house, an empty heart, and a constant reminder of heartache is just the tip of Alex’s troubles. He not only has to vie once again for Elyssa’s heart, but also show her a sense of security that’s been destroyed. Can he rebuild the foundation they built before he left or has he lost her for good?
Alex’s return coupled with Oliver’s advances has Elyssa not only stuck in a triangular love affair, but caught in a web woven so tight by Arianna Salerno. Alex’s past, constant threats, and a relentless watchful eye are only a few tools in Arianna’s bag of torture as she pushes Elyssa further and further away from the only man she’s ever loved.
excerpt
“God, I’ve missed you,” his voice quivers as his mouth runs along the curve of my neck. “I’ve thought of you every second since I left.”
“Shhh…Alex…don’t speak. Just kiss me.” I grip the back of his head, forcing his lips to mine. I relish this moment of perfection knowing it’s only for tonight.
Seeing Alex in the lobby of the hotel was a blessing and a curse. No words exchanged, just a look. One look was all it took and the moment our eyes met the weeks of isolation and avoidance vanished. Moments with Oliver were a distant memory and all I wanted was him. The electricity between us unquestionable, my legs moved before my mind could catch up. And by that time I was already in Alex’s arms. I don’t even remember how we got to his room, but the moment we were behind closed doors our reunion turned pornographic.
Lifting me, Alex pins me against the wall, hands traveling up my thighs pushing up my skirt, fingers digging painfully into the skin of my ass. A moan escapes my lips before taking his mouth, sucking on his bottom lip, teasing his tongue with mine. With a deep growl, Alex brushes his fingers against my aching core before ripping my panties, discarding them to the floor.
His fingers find my wet core and my body immediately begins to tremble when they glide along my folds. After weeks without him, my body reacts to his absence by grinding against his strong hand.
“Alex…” I moan, running my tongue along the stubble of his chin.
“I fucking love you…” he growls as his nails dig deeper into my skin.
My heart swells with emotion at his simple words. I bite my bottom lip while Alex focuses on my breasts. Pulling down the neck of my blouse he pushes down the top of my bra, exposing my nipple. He takes it into his mouth, sucking aggressively, moaning against my flushed skin.
“Say it. Even if you have to lie to me…say it.”
Closing my eyes, I tip my head back breathing in his musky scent and feel the rising pleasure with each lap of Alex’s hot tongue against my sensitive skin. “What Alex…I’ll say anything just please, please don’t stop…”
Lifting his head from my rising chest, I sigh in disappointment from the lost warmth of his mouth. As I look into his eyes I see the torture of the past couple of weeks reflected back at me. I’ve hurt him, I’m hurting him now, but I can’t stop. This feels right. Leaning in, Alex softly kisses my lips before resting his forehead against mine. So tender my heart splinters. “Tell me you still love me. I don’t know what’s going on in your head, but I need to hear it.”
“Hey…” I reach up grasping the sides of his face forcing him to look at me. “It’s not a lie. I don’t have to lie. I do love you. I know it seems like…” my voice trails off as Alex interrupts me, his mouth crashing down on mine.
“That’s all I wanted to hear. I don’t care about anything else.” Alex pushes himself against me as we both eagerly undo his belt. Lifting my legs, I dig the heels of my feet against his jeans, pushing down his pants, bringing his boxers along with them. Within seconds he’s deep inside me and all the stress from the past few weeks have completely vanished.
I love him and I’ll live in this for as long as I can.
Cant Go Without By Angelisa Stone
Can't Go Without Book Blitz
Book Blitz
CGW Angelisa StoneBook Title: Can’t Go Without (Oasis Waterfall, #2)
Author: Angelisa Stone
Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Release Date: March 1, 2014
Hosted by:Book Enthusiast Promotions
Synopsis
“What’s the one thing you can’t go without?”
Tristan O’Donnell has money, women, and all the luxuries that cold hard cash can buy. Tristan’s been sucking sunshine right from the monogrammed silver spoon his life was served up on since the day he was born. And quite frankly, he wouldn’t want it any other way. He’s his mother’s pride and joy, his father’s right-hand-man, and the envy of every guy around. All Tristan has to do is flash his million dollar smile, give his trademark wink, and he gets what he wants, when he wants, anytime he wants.
Leah Franchetti grinds her fingers to the bone; sculpting, painting, recreating treasures from trash—the very sentiment that defines her life. Her inventive, vindictive, lucrative, and seemingly unforgivable plan allowed her to shortcut her way into the life she always imagined, owning an art gallery, surrounding herself in the comfort of her passion and dreams.
When circumstances force Leah and Tristan to come face-to-face with the past and with Leah’s devious manipulation, truths come flooding forth, destroying those in the present and possibly jeopardizing both of their highly anticipated futures.
Can Tristan overcome Leah’s slander and deception—despite how dangerously close he comes to losing the one thing he can’t go without—money? Will Leah be forced to come clean, knowing she’ll have to live her life with the one thing she can’t go without—her dignity?
excerpt
Rushing out of Chet O’Donnell’s office, angrily and haughtily, I face-plant straight into a strong, hard chest, covered in a wool, cable-knit sweater, smelling of expensive cologne. People always say that the sense of smell is the most powerful sense, triggering memories and feelings clearer than any of the other four senses combined. Just one smell, one inhalation of that warm, sexy designer cologne and my insides burn, ignite with intense desire and longing. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. No. No. No.
“I’m…I’m…I’m…” I stammer, backing up, dropping my head, and looking straight at the ground in humiliation.
“I’m…I gotta go,” I mumble, sidestepping out of his way, and heading straight for the elevator. I push the button repeatedly, knowing damn well my actions won’t speed up the elevator’s arrival.
Tristan runs to catch me, just as I eye the stairwell and bolt for the door. “Leah! Wait!” he yells; the “wait” is muffled by the sound of the door slamming behind me. I run down only one flight of steps and escape onto the twentieth floor, knowing that Tristan O’Donnell would chase me the entire way down the stairs—if seeing and talking to me were his goals. Tristan O’Donnell always gets what he wants. Always.
Hoping that Tristan doesn’t check the video monitors, I walk down the hallway to the other set of stairs and down to the first floor, exiting O’Donnell Industries. Once I hit the street, the winter sun reflecting off the snow burns my eyes. I squint at the pain of the brightness, knowing the sting of my tears has nothing to do with the shining, searing light.
